Post-treatment: Critical Components for Surface Protection Description

Post-treatment: Critical Components for Surface Protection Description

Post-treatment is an indispensable stage in the electroplating workflow. Its core purpose is to eliminate microscopic defects generated during the plating process while significantly enhancing the decorative, physical, and mechanical properties of the coating—such as brightness and adhesion. Most importantly, post-treatment provides the critical corrosion resistance required for high-performance industrial applications.

Based on the application and design objectives, we categorize post-treatment solutions into three domains: Decorative, Protective, and Functional. We provide a comprehensive range of high-purity chemical reagents for the following key stages:

Post-treatment: Critical Components for Surface Protection Description

Rinsing & Dehydration (Drying)

Designed to thoroughly remove residual plating solutions, preventing water spots, staining, or early-stage corrosion.

Dehydrating Agents: Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA), specialized dehydration oils, and fluorocarbon solvents.

Wetting & Cleaning: Surfactants (such as ultra-low foam non-ionic surfactants).

2. Polishing Treatments

Mechanical and electrochemical polishing to further enhance the surface brilliance of the coating, achieving a mirror-like finish.

Acidic Polishing Solutions: Phosphoric Acid, Sulfuric Acid, Nitric Acid.

Functional Additives: Chromic Anhydride and Glycerin (serving as corrosion inhibitors and lubricants).

3. Passivation -The Core Protection‍

A critical process that generates a microscopic conversion film on the coating surface, drastically extending Salt Spray Test (NSS) performance.

Trivalent Chromium Passivation (Eco-friendly): Chromium(III) Nitrate, Chromium(III) Sulfate, Cobalt Chloride, Sodium Fluoride, and Nitric Acid.

Chrome-Free Passivation: Hexafluorozirconic Acid, Hexafluorotitanic Acid, Silane coupling agents, and Phytic Acid.

Traditional Hexavalent Chromium: Chromic Anhydride (Chromic Acid) and Potassium Dichromate
